Nitin Julka Policy Statement

I have been lucky enough to have received an outstanding education in each stage of my life. My high school was Hawken School in Gates Mills, OH, and I received an amazing education at that institution.

In college, I majored in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. UW provided me with a solid liberal arts education coupled with broad requirements across the sciences, humanities, and language arts. I am now receiving my MBA at the Columbia Graduate School of Business.

I wish it were possible for each child in America to have the same opportunities that I have had at all these great institutions.

Education is the single most important domestic policy issue. All citizens require an outstanding education to make informed decisions throughout their lives and compete in an increasingly competitive and globalized economy. Our failing educational system has the potential to decline America's standing as a global economic, political, and social leader. For this reason, I believe that providing every child with a high quality education is imperative for the success of our society.

My plan after graduation is to work at my father's company, Smart Solutions. It is a systems integrator firm based in Ohio that mostly sells its products and services to government agencies. Coincidentally, one of Smart Solutions' primary clients is the education sector. The name of this division is Ohio Learning Systems and their mission is to use technology to achieve "maximized and measurable student achievement."

For this reason, I will be taking particular interest in educational technology issues, especially as they relate to Ohio. Please send me any interesting links, blog posts, studies, or comments on this topic. njulka-at-gmail-dot-com .

I am looking forward to continuing to post on this blog in the foreseeable future.
